HELLO
She sits there. Fifth pew on the right. Arms folded because
although she doesn’t acknowledge it, she doesn't feel safe. She wants this barrier from the
estranged family she has been damaged by so many times before. She would have
sat in the back pew, but it has been taken over by families with small
children. So, she sits there.
You watch her. You caught a glimpse of her when you turned
around from the highly prized second pew, also on the right. You would not be
enjoying this elite spot, but Elder Smith moved to Ohio, and now the seat is
yours. You are aware the time is coming to say hello to the church family. Will
you go to her? Her hair is odd. It is too short, too colorful and styled in a
wild manner which makes one question if she had planned to be at church today.
He waits. Today is so important. He sends angels to be near
her. He knows her every fear and she mustn’t run. Just a few short moments,
seven and a half to be precise, His children will stand. He needs just one of
them to reach out to her. To grab her. The pain was so hard and the healing has
taken so long. But today. Today she is here. Four minutes to go. The Holy
Spirit moves in to soften the hearts of the ones chosen to be the bearers of
His love with skin on. One-minute left. Now. The time is now. Heaven is waiting
and the sheep is found. She just needs to be led back to the fold.
You stand and turn. She still sits. Her arms are still
folded. Her eyes are focused on a red pencil which was left on the floor. The
tugging at your heart is from the One who brought you in 23 years ago, but the
Pharisees have told you to determine when someone doesn’t fit in and now you
aren't sure you should waste the time which could be spent getting in line to
greet the pastor.
This is the moment. Today. For both of you. It’s time to let
go of anything but His voice. How about it? All it takes is hello.
He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
