Sandy

From an ad column, I read one day
Chihuahua mix puppies being given away

Drove out to the house, oh! What a surprise
Not healthy, not clean, but sad brown eyes

Sick though you were, I still picked you up
You're crazy they said, just plain flat out nuts.

Why look at that dog with sores all about
Something's serious wrong and it's catchin' no doubt

But instead of seeing the mess on your skin
I saw you for what you could be...my friend

As I remember, I look at you now
And I know you're getting better somehow

The spots are fading and you're starting to be
The beautiful dog I always could see

And I'm forced to recall another time
Another more precious friend of mine

Only this time I was the one in need
and He was the one my sickness freed

People laughed and jeered, made fun of Him too
But He came to earth with one thing to do

Perhaps His friends said "look at her Lord"
There's no way she could be worth dying for."

But as He saw the state I was in
He died just so I could be His friend
